5. A proverb is a short sentence that many people often use to tell you something about life. Do you remember this proverb:

8. Is this sentence correct?
He had his Mini souped up and had a terrible crash a few days later as a result.

آزمون «سوپ» از: پژمان حبيبي

1.	معمولاً سوپ را با قاشق مي‌خورند.
2.	جك! پسر خوبي باش و كاسه سوپت را تمام كن.
3.	مامان، مي‌شه يك كم ديگه سوپ برايم بريزي؟
4.	چه كسي گفت: ببخشيد‌ آقا، مي‌شه لطفاً يك كم ديگه بهم بديد؟
5.	ضرب‌المثل جمله كوتاهي است كه خيلي از مردم براي اينكه نكته‌اي در مورد زندگي بگويند، به كار مي‌برند. اين ضرب‌المثل را به ياد مي‌آوريد؟ آشپز كه دو تا بشه، آش يا شور شور مي‌شه يا بي‌نمك.
6.	وزير، بعد از اينكه روزنامه‌ها به گريز وي از پرداخت ماليات پي بردند، در مخمصه افتاد.
7.	در دوران جنگ در يك .... كار مي‌كرد تا به فقرا و بيخانمانها كمك كند.
8.	اين جمله درست است؟ داد قدرت موتور (ماشين) ميني‌اش را زياد كردند و در نتيجه‌اش چند روز بعد تصادف وحشتناكي كرد.
9.	هورت كشيدن سوپ در اغلب كشورها بي‌ادبانه تلقي مي‌شود، ولي در ژاپن و هنگ‌كنگ نشاني قدرداني شما از آشپزي است.
10.	لنگ‌لنگان رفت سر اجاق و .... باز هم قدري سوپ داغ توي كاسه‌هايمان كشيد.

9.	Slurping your soup in considered rude in many countries, but it is a sign of appreciation of cooking in Japan and Hong Kong.
10.	She limped to the stove and ladled out some steaming soup into our bowls. The word "ladle" is a verb in this sentence. Do you know what it means as a noun?

Do too many cooks spoil the broth or the soup?

Shame on me! Who thought I would ever stoop so low! Actually, "Too many cooks spoil the soup" is the American version of "Too many cooks spoil the broth". In the same way a poet short of rhyming words would clutch at whatever he could get his hands on, I, desperately short of "soup expressions", couldn't resist the temptation... but that's no excuse, I know...
